Inclusivity Statement
We believe that Joy McMillan Glass should be a welcoming place regardless of skin colour, race, ethnicity, sexuality, gender, religion, ability, size and age. None of these things should make anyone feel excluded from our social media, the products we make and sell or opportunities to collaborate with us.
What does that mean?
We won’t tolerate hate speech in any space we have control over. We’ll moderate comments on social media and delete comments if necessary. We’ll block those individuals who post abuse. We’ll moderate blog comments, delete abusive comments and block those who chose to post hate speech.
Where we can offer opportunities to work with us we’ll give priority to the groups who often miss out. One thing the pandemic has shown is that there’s a hell of a lot of ways we can work round things. So if you’d like to collaborate with us but aren’t sure if we can accommodate your needs please get in touch and we’ll see what we can do. One of the benefits of a small business like ours is that we have lots of scope to be flexible.
We know that we’re going to miss things and get things wrong. That doesn’t mean we won’t try to get it right, but it’s likely that we’re going to mess up and get things wrong. If you’re able to let us know about this we’ll appreciate that a lot and we’ll do whatever we can to make it right.
We’ve chosen to support two charities. Stonewall UK supports the LGBTQI+ community. The Trussell Trust is behind many of the food banks in the UK. It’s hideous that either charity is needed, but until that’s no longer the case we’ll support them by splitting 10% of our sales revenue each month between them.
You’ll find this statement repeated at The Knitting Goddess and The Unruly Stitch. We’re the people behind all three businesses and this applies across all of them.
