Joy McMillan Glass
Frosted Glass Link with 3 purple beads
Frosted Glass Link with 3 purple beads
A delicate necklace with a single frosted glass link which passes through three frosted purple glass beads.
Measurements
The beads measure approximately 14mm across the centre and 5mm wide. The link measures 36mm by 20mm. Together the link and beads are 39mm long.
The link is finished with a 45cm (18 inch) sterling silver trace chain. The chain closes with a bolt ring clasp which fastens through a jump ring.
How is this necklace made?
Creating this piece starts with making the beads. Then the link is created and the beads are put in place before the link is closed. The piece is then annealed. The beads and link spend several hours in a rock tumbler with sand and grit to create the frosted finish. There’s a final clean and polish and the link is put onto a chain.
What is the necklace made from?
The glass link and bead are both made from borosilicate glass. The link is clear and the beads are made from purple borosilicate glass, so there’s a gentle colour shift. Both link and beads have been tumble etched to give a frosted finish like sea glass.

Care For Your Jewellery
The best way to care for silver is to keep it in airtight packaging such as the tin it comes in when it’s not being worn. If it does tarnish (which is completely normal) it can be cleaned with a silver polishing cloth. Glass can be cleaned with soap and water and polished with a soft cloth.
